About Maggie
Well the title button says About Me so what shall I tell you. I dont think there has been a time in my life when I havent been singing. Aged 16 I first heard the amazing voice of Joan Baez I was so impressed I went straight out and bought a guitar, from then on I discovered Joni Mitchell, leonard Cohen,Tom Paxton & all the other wonderful singers of that era.
Then a good friend took me to a Folk Club & I discovered Traditional music and the rest as they say is history.
When I write my own songs they tend to reflect whatever has grabbed my attention on the day maybe a line from a radio interview as in Cheap Daily Life
(the plight of Dairy Farmers this song will be on new CD) Local legends or people I know or have known make good song subjects.(see Fisherman John on song lyrics page)And the West Country in general is very inspiring for songwriting.
I have supported Fairport Convention, The Albion Band,
Phil Beer, Ian Bruce,Bob Fox, Pete Coe, St Agnes Fountain, Brass Monkey, Blazing Fiddles,
Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham, Sean Cannon to name but a few.
I have recorded 4 CD''s Shadows on the Water, Full Circle Round and Timeless.
CD number four "Nine Turns Of The Moon produced by the legendary Phil Beer is now out & selling very well
